This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Anand Gyana (Drs. A. Roovers). It is "Exhibit A-1092" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern,

I studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in social psychology and developmental psychology. Afterwards I have been doing research in the field of criminology (juvenile delinquency). I strongly felt the need to know myself better before I could help other people with their problems. During the trainings to explore myself, I heard about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his work. I started to read his books, to listen to his tapes, and I participated in the meditations Bhagwan specially designed for Western people.

In 1977, I became a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and met him personally. I was impressed by his love and wisdom. I participated in some therapy groups at the ashram in Poona, where I experienced much more involvement, just as everything became more intense in the presence of Bhagwan.

Later, I was working as a teacher and the experience of being with Bhagwan was of immense help in my work. I also started a Rajneesh Meditation Center in Rotterdam where I was working as a centerleader and therapist with hundreds of people who were visiting the center.

I am convinced of the authenticity of Bhagwans being and the great value as a spiritual leader for the whole of humanity.

I am working now mainly as a therapist and I daily experience the importance of Bhagwans work and his being here on this earth in my contact with my clients. It seems to me of greatmost importance that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh may remain in the United States to be able to continue his blissful work for mankind.
