This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Deva Sansargo (Freiderike Lehmann). It is "Exhibit A-1358" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is for me the person who gave me the deepest impulse in my total work and is still giving me. I studied music at the conservatory for music in Munich for 6 years and finished in 1981 with an excellent degree. Piano and viola had been the main cases besides psycholodgy and pedagogic a.s.f. I have been teaching now for more than seven years and my whole understanding of my work changed completely when Bhagwan entered my life.

Because Bhagwan’s vision of man is so different of anything I ever heard at the university; he sees man as a uniqueness and as an infinite possibility to grow. And this is a totally different viewpoint in teaching, contrary to normal education which always says that the child has to learn this and that. And here the child is in the middle and the teacher listens to the child, is lead by the child’s needs and supports him with love. Also my understanding of music changed --more indirectly but not less deep.

What changed is the ability to listen. This happened in three years of practice of Bhagwan’s meditations which slowly show one the structure of one’s mind, and if one becomes a listener to one’s own mind, one simply can listen to music. Because this is the root of all music: to allow the emptiness where music can descend. And this is the point where I always could see the neurosis of the kids growing up in big cities. Listen to anything is sheer impossible for them and it is such a need.

How I came across Bhagwan was through personal contact with a sannyasin with whom I lived together for a long time and Bhagwan’s presence in her struck me so deeply that I took sannyas very soon because I found all I had desired for, for a tong time.

Bhagwan’s presence is the presence of love plus phenomenon I can't describe. With him miracles start happening and he is functioning like a catalyst. What Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s presence means to the world is immeasurable becuase he is the one who goes to the roots of all science and art.

Yours sincerely,
