This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Dhyan Rosalie. It is "Exhibit A-104" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 3 pages.

I, Ma Dhyan Rosalie, being duly sworn do depose and say as follows:

1. I am a Siddha of Rajneeshism, appointed June 30, 1983. I have been a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh for the past three years.

2. My first meeting with Bhagwan was September 26, 1980, the day of my initiation. During my initiation Bhagwan spoke to me about becoming more aware and more conscious of my thoughts. He spoke to me with a quality of love and compassion that I had never before experienced in a religious person or any other person. At this moment I knew that I wanted to devote my life to Bhagwan's teachings.

3. While in Poona, I attended all of Bhagwan's daily morning discourses. I also meditated up to six hours every day and participated in many of the inner growth programs. Through being in Bhagwan's presence and participating in His meditations and other growth programs, I experienced a process in myself which I can only describe as a profound spiritual awakening.

In Poona, I met a wide cross-section of people from all over the world, from all walks of life, and it became apparent to me that the impact of Bhagwan’s teachings was global. Everyone I met spoke in glowing terms, of the respect and admiration for Bhagwan they had found in their own countries. My experience in Rajneeshpuram is the same: He is loved and acclaimed in every continent.

4. At present I am an Assistant Director of the Rajneesh Institute of Nature Living. The Institute's function is to provide an atmosphere for care of the body and to help people to learn to treat their bodies as temples. Shortly after the Institute opened, Bhagwan gave me guidance through His Personal Secretary on the atmosphere I should create in the Institute. His message was to be compassionate toward all people. He recommended that I, as an Assistant Director of the Rajneesh Institute for Nature Living, create an environment that reflects utter grace so that when a visitor arrives he or she will relax, all the outside impositions will disappear and the individual can dissolve into nature and him or herself.

5. I see others around me at Rajneeshpuram letting go of their own pettiness and melting with the love that Bhagwan is pouring on us. His infinite trust in life has inspired us to build a unique religious community in two years. I experience more and more of what He refers to as religiousness; a pure religion, where each moment is celebrated and lived totally. I find His ability to convey His message of love and celebration to many people on so many different levels and from many walks of life astounding.

6. Each day Bhagwan drives by all of His disciples who come to the roadside to greet Him. He blesses each and every one of the hundreds who have come to see Him. I feel totally renewed and have a sense of deep harmony with the universe after seeing Bhagwan each day. To me, this quality is what religion is all about.

7. Throughout the past year, during our religious celebration days, Bhagwan has come and sat with us in Satsang (a silent heart to heart communion with a spiritual Master) and Darshan (an intimate meeting with a spiritual Master). These celebrations are for me more profound religious experiences than I had ever imagined possible. It is an experience of the heart and the soul which words cannot convey. The love which I feel flowing from Bhagwan towards us all fills me with joy and gratitude that such a man exists on the earth. His religious work, now that He has gone into silence, is to give us the opportunity to experience the religiousness of His being.

8. More and more, my immense love and gratitude increases for Bhagwan. I became aware long ago that Bhagwan's message is for me to be total in my daily worship. I have experienced a flowering within myself and have also watched other members of our community blossom and become more beautiful. I have observed people arriving for the first time at Rancho Rajneesh with all the fears they have brought with them and I have seen how quickly these visitors attune themselves to our community and how their eyes begin to shine. In my experience, Bhagwan's contribution to the religiousness of America is already being felt. The essence of His message is love and He is reminding everyone who is open to Him that it is possible to live in this country and on this planet in harmony, peace and joy.

The foregoing is within my personal knowledge and if called as a witness I could testify competently thereto.
