This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To whom it may concern;

I have been involved for several years in the legal field working as a paralegal in both public and private practices. As part of my work I have dealt extensively with both the legal and personal problems of the client and with research, writing and organization.

My background consists of a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a degree from a specialized paralegal training school.

My first contact with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh occurred by accident; I hadn't been a spiritual seeker and was mostly career oriented. I happened to read one of Bhagwan's books, lent by a friend, and to my suprise I was completely overwhelmed by a sense of having finally come in touch with one who spoke the universal truth and spoke it with total clarity grace and love. I began practicing Bhagwan's meditation techniques and his presence became prominant in my life. I experienced a tremendous release of years of accumulated stress and anxiety. A sense of awakeness and alertness began to grow in me. I noticed in my work that my communications with people were improving in that I was more attentive and interested in their problems and my ability to focus on detailed organizational tasks and to approach legal research problems creatively was enhanced. My co-workers inquired frequently and positively on the changes in me.

My connection with Bhagwan has always been through silence I was and am continuing to be transformed in his presense. There is no "rationaI" explanation for this for it is a matter of the heart, and of trust, of faith and of love, not of mind.

The United States will be greatly benefited by allowing such a man as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to live here for He is an exceptional worker of practical miracles through the medium of silence.

Sincerely,
Ma Prabodh Mukti
