This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Prem Vismaya (Anne Geraghty). It is "Exhibit A-344" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Vismaya was a co-ordinator of Medina, the largest sannyasin commune in Europe, and the mother of Sw Yogesh, the author of My Life in Orange, his story of growing up neglected.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is recognised universally by Humanist Psychologists as a man of vision and genius who has made a profound impact upon our understanding of human psychology and spirituality. His books are frequently quoted in many articles on the subject of human relationships and rarely do journals of research in this area not mention his revolutionary contributions.

For example, the dynamic meditations he has devised are in use all over the world in psychosomatic medicine, in mental hospitals, in stress alleviation programmes, in sports. One Italian basketball team, doing very badly on the field, transformed their teamwork, their energy and their skill after using these meditations so much so that they got to the top of the league! The improvement was so dramatic that more and more interest is growing in these meditations.

I have qualified and worked as an educational psychologist in child guidance clinics and schools, as a clinical psychologist in mental hospitals and neurological units, and as a research psychologist in a university and a medical research unit. In every one of these areas Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh has made outstanding contributions with his exceptional insight and depth of wisdom. The development of new therapies under his guidance has led to a quantum leap in our understanding and development of human consciousness .

I now co-ordinate the largest growth and meditation centre in Europe at Medina Rajneesh Adult Education Centre, and the rapid growth of this is due entirely to the power and effectiveness of these new techniques devised by Bhagwan. That people come from all over the world in their thousands to take part in these courses bears witness to the growing universal recognition of this man's wisdom and profound spiritual and psychological insight. Over half these visitors are not disciples of Bhagwan but simply people who have recognised his genius and want to learn more. Many, later, after having experienced his wisdom and truth and the greatness of this man, do become his disciples.

Yours faithfully
