This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Yoga Pragya. It is "Exhibit A-1372" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To whom it may concern:

I am a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and I write in support of his residency in the U.S.A.

I basically want you to know and understand that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a man of exceptional ability in the sciences. I would rather say that HE IS THE ONLY ONE MAN OF EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY IN THE SCIENCES existing right now.

I am a microbiologist. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and I have worked as a pathologist in India. I was a laboratory technician in a clinic in India.

I feel tremendously grateful to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - it is because of him I had a totally new dimension in my field of science. I was quite successful in my profession and all the credit goes to Bhagwan.

It was because of him that I could be total in what I was doing, and also I was basically more loving and aware also in whatever I did.

I have actually known Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh since I was a child and going to school. I have known him personally. I took sannyas in 1971 and I have had a lot of Darshans with him. I have asked him questions about meditations concerning me and my life, and the answers I got were so practical and they have changed my whole life.

I have heard almost all of his English and Hindi dicourses in Poona in his presence. They are incredible. He has talked on almost all the subjects possible. He has covered all the aspects of life, religion, science, arts, psychology, medicine.

He is the teacher of teachers. He is the best doctor in the world. He cures you totally and cuts the very root of your problems. For example: He says mind and body are inter-related - if your inner being is centered and loving and meditative it automatically makes your body healthy and beautiful. If you are sick within, i.e. full of anger, hate, unawareness, your body also gets affected, you can get ulcers, headaches, heart attacks, etc. I have myself noticed this that people who are life-positive and loving and meditative are more healthy than the ones who are life-negative, serious and unaware.

I especially feel that in the sciences Bhagwan’s understanding of man and his approach of his problems and the way to solve them surpasses anything available in any university curriculum anywhere in the whole world.

And now it is through silence that his most visible and impressive contribution takes form - the remarkable city of Rajneeshpuram.

Americans should feel grateful to have a man like him in their country. He certainly is a religious and spiritual master internationally recognised.

Hoping that you will understand and do the needful so that Bhagwan can be granted permanent residency in America.

Sincerely,
Ma Yoga Pragya
