This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Yoga Taru. It is "Exhibit A-539" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Rajneeshpuram, OR 97741
August 1, 1983

To whom it may concern.

I am the lead singer in the religious incantation of Rajneeshism. I come from a well-to-do Indian family with a long aristocratic tradition, and in general I have lived a good life. But with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh here is the most beautiful and the richest part of my life.

I have been a singer all my life. And now living with Bhagwan has enhanced my singing, filled my life with a new meaning and splendour; I feel that my entire life has become a song, a music.

Here in Rajneeshpuram I have experience from time to time of His silence, His grace, which is of the highest. This silence cannot be put into words. It is all divine and godly. All existence comes from silence, and disappears into it, but silence itself remains. It is indestructible, it is deathless, it is eternal.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is one of the rare, the most rare men of all our history, like Buddha, Krishna, Lao-Tzu and Christ who attained and experienced godhood and became one with it. But in one respect He is very different and unique, in that He accepts life in its totality, both the material and spiritual parts of life. He brings an altogether new religion to mankind which unites the earth and the heavens together and makes life whole and holy. Besides, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh forms the bridge between East and West whose unity is the crying need of the hour.

In my view U.S.A, is most fortunate, and it is its greatest privilege to have Bhagwan Shree. Rajneesh on its soil. Future history of mankind will remember U.S.A. more for His presence and work here than for its glittering affluence and splendid technological civilization.

Yours faithfully,
