This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Marcia A. Bell RN. It is "Exhibit A-235" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern,

This letter is to bring to your attention an except-tional person, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

I am a registered nurse; I graduated in general nursing in 1968 from St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, and then in midwifery in 1969 from Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. Following this I have worked in public hospitals in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and London in the field of general nursing. I was in charge of a medical ward for some years, and then specialized in a cardio-thoracic unit.

I first came in contact with the teaching of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through a psychologist, who was very successfully incorporating Bhagwan’s ideas in his therapy. This had such a dramatic, positive effect on my life, that I sought more contact with his (Bhagwan’s) teachings through his books and tapes.

I have discovered, that, because of the love and positivity I have now found in myself and others, through this man’s amazing ability to touch the truth, I am now able to give far more of myself as a nurse. I have found that I am now more clear and open to my patient’s needs, and to those of my co-workers. I am able to deal with the emotional and physical stress that exists when dealing with ill, defenceless people. The reason for this is that I am more relaxed and clear, because of the meditations that Bhagwan has devised. I also feel that I now approach my patients as whole human beings, and can therefore meet their needs more effectively and efficiently.

Yours sincerely

Marcia A. Bell R.N.
