This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

My academic studies started with an interest in a particular area of life and then evolved - through the knowledge of the centuries - towards new discoveries, new insights, new dimensions of thought.

In studying psychology and in particular educational psychology, this process led me towards humanistic psychology, the psychology of Maslow, Rogers and others.

Of course the search did not stop there, enquiry went on. During the last year of my university studies I stumbled upon Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and His vision on the human psyche.

After studying His books and comparing His discoveries with what I had found out so far, it became clear to me that humanistic psychology has only touched the shore where Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s vision begins.

Working in a school for secondary education I experienced that Bhagwan's vision on education is the natural stop from humanistic psychology towards a deep, human, living science. His words: 'Real education is like drawing water from a well, not pouring something into the well’ and all His explanations of this vision served as a constant inspiration for me during that time. And not only during that time, but still... even a lifetime may not be enough to realize the full meaning and consequences of this truth.

Not only I but also several of my colleagues -who did not take the jump into sannyas - found that Bhagwan opened a new direction on their path of scientific discovery. Also one of my professors in the university was very interested in His views and asked me to keep her informed about anything I found out in being a sannyasin.

Since then, many of my friends, both scientists and people of other professions have read Bhagwan’s books and listened to Him on tape. Some of them have taken sannyas, others have found a new inspiration in their work and in their private lives.

It is clear that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a great help to many people who search for deeper insights into life and for founded, meaningful stepping stones on which humanity can move into a more human future.

Yours sincerely,
