This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Marva J. Mohr. It is "Exhibit A-183" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you on behalf of a person whom I believe to be one of the greatest intellectual giants of our times- Sri Bhagwan Rajneesh.

As an international legal activist, I am aware of the writings of this esteemed man. In my opinion, his written contributions alone have substantially advanced the thinking of many of us in the international human rights arena. Moreover, he has so impacted a number of legalists, both in the United States and abroad, in such a way as to bring about a re-thinking, and I believe future re-shaping, in the applications and operating principles of international law.

It is paramount that a person of Mr. Rajneesh’s character, intellect, and vision remain in a country such as the United States to more easily facilitate publication of his works and to afford the United States legal community ready access to him.

I strongly urge you to clear any immigration procedures and processes that would quickly grant Mr. Rajneesh his requested immigration status in in the United States.

Sincerely,
[signed]
