This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Michael A. Parsons. It is "Exhibit A-407" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am a dental surgeon with orthodontics as a specialty. I qualified in 1965 as a Batchelor in Dental Surgery at the University of Durham. I then studied at the Royal College of Physicians, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, gaining the Primary Fellowship in Dental Surgery. A further 2 years of study led to the Diploma in Dental Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, Scotland. Since then I have been in mixed dental and orthodontic practice in both England and Scotland.

I first came in contact with the religious teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in 1978 through friends and reading his books and listening to his tapes. I met him during 1980 at Poona India where I was on short holiday.

I consider this man to be not only a religious teacher of the highest order but one of the most unique individuals in this day and age. His insights into man’s psychological make-up and his understanding of people and their problems are unsurpassed. His teachings and his books have been a constant inspiration to me and have deeply affected both my personal life and my dental practice. Since coming in contact with his teachings my dental practice has become happier and more relaxed and my interaction with patients has improved immensely.

Yours faithfully
