This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Michael Karagosian. It is "Exhibit A-567" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Michael Karagosian,
1034 Del Cambre Ave.,
SAN JOSE, C.A. 95129

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

By profession I am an electronic engineer.

I have a B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from the U.C. Berkeley, have engaged in graduate work in electrical engineering at the University of Santa Clara, and am a registered engineer in the state of California. I have worked in linear integrated circuit design for several companies in the San Jose area, including work as a design consultant for Memorex, Inc., and I have worked as a project engineer and manager for Dolby Laboratories, where I lead several projects related to the film and recording industries, most notably the development of the stereo "surround sound" equipment used in the Movie "Apocalypse Now".

I began reading books by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh approximately six years ago when looking for guidance in clear thinking, problem solving, and creative inspiration. Nowhere in any university have I encountered anyone who has such an exceptional understanding of the human mind and such insight in problem solving and creative inspiration. For me, Rajneesh provided the intuitive depth of understanding that has added much creativity to my work in electronics.

The presence of this man in our country is definitely to be applauded. A man with such a keen insight to the human mind is an asset to our culture. Rajneesh is also an internationally recognized spiritual leader, making the United States a natural home for him.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Michael Karagosian
