This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Peter Sandblad. It is "Exhibit A-753" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern.

For the last 7 years I have been the editor/publisher of "Nexus - Magazine for wholeness and growth". It is a well renowned magazine and the only one of its kind in Scandinavia. The magazine is very much concerned with material that has to do with what one can call the art of living and with getting a better and more whole understanding of our universe. The latest advancements in science, religion and practical living are in focus of our interest.

In order to edit NEXUS, I have to read much and to be well informed on what is happening throughout the world in the areas of our interest. There are many exciting things happening and there is a massive interest from a lot of people in the field we cover. Quite a few extraordinary people are also contributing to perpetuate what is going on and one of the most outstanding individuals here is Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

What makes Rajneesh so outstanding is:
1. His exceptional understanding of what is going on in the world.
2. His extraordinary ability to relate this to the individual human being.
3. His devotion to make this available to the public in hundreds of books and other publications.
4. His importance as the inspiration behind the community project, Rajneeshpuram in Oregon, which is being built by his disciples.

I first came to know about Rajneesh in 1975 and have since then been reading a lot by him and been in touch with what is going on around him. By reading him I have come to know more about myself and about life in general. Rajneesh has awakened my interest in the religious part of everyday life and also for the first time made me understand Jesus Christ and Christianity, which is the religion I was brought up in. Rajneesh has also given me a better and clearer understanding of religion in general and its complementary relationship to science.

Rajneesh has a very unusual ability to bring different aspects of life together and help people understand how things are related. He is also showing people how they in a practical and developmental way best can relate to whatever situation they are in.

To me Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a very exceptional religious teacher and a very rare spiritual leader whose continuous work I am very much looking forward to follow.
