This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Robert S. Crocker. It is "Exhibit A-192" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom It May Concern

This letter is a statement of acclaim of my personal admiration for, and trust of the exceptional abilities of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh as a spiritual leader and religious teacher.

I am a doctor of medicine, registered in New South Wales currently practicing Accident and Emergency medicine in casualty section at St Vincents Hospital, Sydney. Having seen the effects of the teachings on the way of life of sannyasins for the past 2 1/2 years I have absolutely no hesitation in expressing the greatest admiration for a man who is surely the greatest religious leader of our time.

As far as my own field of health care is concerned my observation of the effects of Bhagwans work on his followers has shown his techniques of meditation and worship to be the most effective I have ever come across as treatment for the ’plagues’ of modern day civilization (viz.stress, anxiety, hypertension, heart disease, arthritis and premature ageing).

This modern day sage has a vital message for humanity which only those blinded by hatred, bigotry and arrogance will fail to see and understand. It is only rarely that such a man of exceptional ability, indeed an enlightened Master appears on our earth. To exclude Bhagwan and his teachings from your country is to miss the greatest opportunity that you will ever have in your lifetime.

Yours sincerely,
[signed]
Dr. Robert S Crocker.
