This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from S. G. Eaman. It is "Exhibit A-524" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Dear Sirs:

At the present time I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Health Sciences Faculty of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I have known Bagwan Shree Rhaneesh for the past six years, ever since I visited his ashram in Poona, India. While there, I heard several lectures by him and in addition, have read at least six of his books and listened to audio tapes of other lectures that he has given.

I find that Bagwan Rhaneesh is a very extraordinary human being, not only in the incredible breadth of his knowledge of the world’s great religions, but in his ability to transmit this information to those around him. He is an exceptional teacher and very clearly dedicated to the psychological and spiritual growth and wellbeing of mankind. I feel that it is indeed a great honour that Bagwan Rhaneesh is in North America and I look forward to visiting him at his North American Headquarters in Oregon in the near future.

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for the many things that Bagwan Rhaneesh has taught me and I do hope that he will be allowed to reside permanently in the United States.

Yours sincerely,
[signed]
