This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To Whom it May Concern

In 1966 I was admitted to the Bar of Japanese Lawyer’s. During the same year I opened Sadao Tsutsui Law Office at the above address. I became acquainted with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through his book " Tantra - The Supreme Understanding " in 1979. Since I have read 16 more of his books that have been translated into Japanese and also I practise his meditation techniques every morning for one hour.

Article 1 of the regulation’s describing a Japanese lawyer’s conduct states that a lawyer’s mission is to protect the fundamental human rights and to actualize social justice. This is the basic foundation of a lawyer’s activity here in Japan. To perform one’s duty within the law, a deep insight and understanding of society and human being’s and freedom and independence of a lawyer as oneself is needed.

For me to achieve these things, the influence and teachings of an outstanding enlightened person is of great value. I strongly feel that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is such kind of person.
