Testimonial letter from Sister Ann McNeil
This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2700 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am an ordained nun of the Tibetan-Gelugpa Buddhist Order headed by the Dalai Lama. I received ordination December 16, 1070 in Dharamsala, India. I have studied Buddhist scriptures, meditated extensively and served as an administrating director in Buddhist monasteries and centers in Nepal, India, Australia and America. For the oast three years I have acted -s Vice-President and General Manager of distribution for an American corporation with the trade label 'Sister Max' - a women's high fashion designer company. I am a Canadian citizen and 5G years of age.
Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh came to my attention through an acquaintance who as a German psychologist, studied Buddhism with me in Nepal and the United States, I was interested to see how Bhagwan Rajneesh interpreted and related to Buddha Shakyamuni's teachings. I was amazed and gratified to see and hear from his video and audio tapes, and reading some of his books, how superbly he has grasped the true essence of Buddha’s teachings through his own experience and what a wonderful approach and manner his communication takes. His love and compassion goes directly to my heart with the same understanding as any of my personal Buddhist teachers and Gurus including the Dalai Lama.
I have visited Rajneeshpuram, Oregon and have taken part in their group meditations to experience for myself, their psycho-therapudic methodology under Bhagwan’s direction. I found the groups to be very professional »nd in no way offensive or inappropriate to medical standards held elsewhere. In fact there was far more love and understanding and I w«s extremely impressed with how quickly my mind, emotions and body was allowed to come into a harmonious balanced loving state of .’being. Bhagwan certainly has the right methods for today’s socities’ stressed aggressive conditions. Because Bhagwan is so well educated in the field of Arts, Theology and Sciences, intelligent oeoole from all over the world find great interest and understanding in his presentation of the value of what is Devine in all humanity.
It is my opinion that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is an exceptional spiritual being. As a Buddhist nun, I believe each individual should be allowed to practice whatever religion he or she wants-but that can only happen if RELIGION IS PERMITTED TO BE AVAILABLE.
Vice-Pres. & Gen. Mgr.
