This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Susana Weinstein MA. It is "Exhibit A-256" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. To whom it may concern,

As a Counseling Psychologist with 22 years of Clinical and Educational practice I am very pleased to support Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in his request to achieve permanent residency in the United States due to his exceptional abilities and creative contributions in the field of the Behavioral Sciences. Find enclosed a brief Resume that list my extensive training as a Psychologist in three major technical approaches to mental health: Psychoanalysis, Gestalt Therapy and Neo-Reichian Analysis. Find also enclosed reference letters about my professional performance for the Department of Public Social Services and Probation Department of Los Angeles County, personal references by the Presiding Judge of Citrus Municipal Court and other individuals in the Community, as well as proof of my current status as Marriage and Family Therapist.

As a contemporary humanist I have been always interested in the causes, events and personalities that have contributed in the world to the enrichment of society through a better understanding of the roots and causes of individual, family and social distress.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh has made great contribution to this effect through his 350 published books, 1.500 tapes and numerous video cassettes with inspiring reflections on most every human issue. This remarkable thinker blends the teachings of all the Spiritual Masters of the East and West with the scientific research of modern Psychologies creating a technical instrument for personal transformation and social change.

My work as a Psychotherapist has been greatly influenced and technically expanded with the integration into my theoretical frame of reference of Bhagwan’s concepts on the Inner Witness, the curative use of Awareness and Intuitive Perception and the actual power and healing qualities of love as a therapeutic tool. The original Moving Meditations have assisted some of my clients into confronting their psychological resistences at the level of the "body armour" and to release sexual and aggressive energies in non-destructive ways.

I consider it a rare opportunity and a privilege to have Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh as a permanent resident in the United Stated and to allow the unfolding of his experimental Commune. Love and Meditation seem to me a revolutionary though peaceful alternative to the arms race and the atomic holocaust !

LET THE UNITED STATES ONCE AGAIN SHOW THE WORLD THAT THERE IS NEW HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY !

Yours, sincerely
