This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Kamalesh. It is "Exhibit A-64" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am writing in support of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s application to remain permanently in the United States of America.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and have been employed in this capacity by the State Government of Western Australia for the last seven years. My qualifications include a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Australia (1976) and an Honours Degree in Arts from the Melbourne University, Victoria (1974).

Prior to becoming a Psychologist, I was a member of the Jesuit Order in the Catholic Church for five years (1967 to 1971) and studied a considerable amount of Christian philosophy and theology.

Bhagwan’s discourses have been extensively recorded on audio and visual tapes and transcribed into numerous books.

From my position of being a Psychologist and previously a theological student, I consider Bhagwan to be an exceptional contributor to man’s understanding of the human condition in the realms of science, philosophy and theology. His approach is uniquely positive and life affirmative and is an outstanding integration of eastern and western thought, of science and religion.

I recommend most strongly that you permit Bhagwan to remain in the United States and continue his religious work.

Yours faithfully,
[signed]
