This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To whom it may concern.

Please allow me to resume my personal evidence of the outstanding performances of the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in the field of arts and media.

I have a professional background as a former military career officer in the German Air Force, then studied and graduated in political sciences. Since 1975 1 am active as a free lance filmdirector and writer for television. In my documentry films I mainly investigated into environmental pollution and housing conditions. One of my films on this subjekt won a critics prize in the Oberhausen film festival 1977. Influenced by my various studies, my approach in my work focused on the analysis of the political decision making process.

I became a disciple of Bhagwan in 1978 and eversince fell immensely grateful for the experience of love and meditativeness in my personal and professional live. I participated in therapy groups conducted in the Shree Rajneesh Ashram in Poona, read His books and spent several months in Rajneeshpuram, Oregon.

Apart from the impressive achievement of creating such an outstanding commune, allow me to draw your attention to the examplary way, Bhagwan uses mass media to convey His vision and teachings of 'a new man' to His dicipies and a worldwide audience. It is worth noting, that Shree Rajneesh inspires an orchestra of the most modern mass media ranging from books and newspapers to audio and video recordings. Considering here only the output of outstanding video films, produced by His disciples covering the widesspread activities of the Rajneeschees in meditation, therapy, worship, practical work, all these films are of extraordinary beauty, simplicity and have to my opinion a meditative and loving quality, that is totally new in the field of modern documentry film. Bhagwan's guidance:

"Art is meditation; any activity becomes meditation if you are lost in it..." became a key to my understanding of my work.

I am a disciple and lover of Bhagwan and feel somehow incable of sharing the treasures that being with Him I had the chance to experience within a few extempore lines. For my professional work Bhagwan's guidance gave me a totally new orientation.

He is a man of exeptional abilities and I wish, not only for myself but also for my fellow men, that He can stay in America and that the institutions concerned give Him every support for the continuation of His work.

Yours sincerely
