This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Nityamo. It is "Exhibit A-382" in the Noles collection.

Dear Sir,

As Anthropologist specialized in the civilization of the Range of the Hindu-Kush, I have been working in connection with the Museum of the University of Florence - Italy and the Volkerkunde Museum of Bern, Switzerland over the years from 1974 to 1981, doing frequent field research for them. During these travels I’ve had occasion to meet a few of the most prominent spiritual leaders who live in those countries: H.H. the Dalai Lama, Krisnamurti, Nem Keroli - Baba. Connection with these religious leaders happens also in a silent sit in their presence. The figure of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh shines brightly among these Masters, and silence isn’t His only way. Tapes and books in abundance are available in every book store all over the world for just a few dollars.

I have met Him personally in 1981 and by Him I’ve been initiated as one of His Sannyasins.

There is no doubt for anyone interested in man’s social behavior that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a living Master and leader of a new religion.

Truely Yours,
Sw. Anand Nityamo
