This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Praphulla (Dr. Peter Rohde). It is "Exhibit A-512" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

I, the undersigned Dr.Peter Rohde herewith declare in lieu of oath the following statement to be true:

I am now a General medical practitioner and accredited Psychotherapist Member of the German Medical Association and Association of Psychotherapists (AAGPT) since 1971. I am born in 1929 and 54 Years of age.

Before this I have been a general surgeon and for ten years the chief medical officer of catholic mission Hospitals in India, namely Caritas Hospital Thellkom/Kottayam. Kerala and St. Luke's Hospital Shrirampur/Ahmednagar Dt. Maharashtra.

In my present position I am acredited for training of General practitioners (postgraduate training) in my office as well as of undergraduate students during their periodic practic al training. (see attached copies).

For several years I have been a groupleader at the "Lindauer Psychotherapie-wochen" (Psychotherapy-weeks of Lindau - the greatest German posgraduate Institution of continuing education of Medical doctors and Psychologists).

My first contact with BHAGWAN SHREE RAJNEESH was througha book of him "Tantra, the supreme understanding."

this book, followed by personal meeting of this exceptional man in POONA influenced, changed and inspirated my complete medical thinking in psychologic al terms and as I do feel improved my psychotherapeutic work in a way. that helped to cure patients faster, better and longer lasting.

As a result, the number of patients inquiring for therapy greatly increased inspite of official prejudices due to ignorance of the facts of Bhagwans teachings.

Quit often, when lack of time prohibited acceptance of a certain patient. and other therapeutic facilities have been not available (I am a country region) just giving a few pages of a tranlated excerpt from bhagwans public ations, related to the problem of the patient, helped him to cope and cure himself.

Explaining complex problems in very clear language and simplest terms so that everybody just understands by heart instead mind, has been the most helpful influence I and my patients experienced after my contact with Bhagwan Shree rajneesh and ever since.
