This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To whom it may concern

Since 22 years, I have been working as a journalist for well known daily newspapers and weekly magazines in West Germany. Such as: "Mainzer Allgemeine Zeitung", " Kolner Stadtanzeiger", "Express", "Bild-Zeitung", "NEUE REVUE", "Quick", " Bunte". Presently I represent the " BURDA" Publishing Company, Bild + Funk, Wiesbaden as regional chief-editor. Before matriculating and studying Journalism, I was brought up in catholic tradition, which - although disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - I still practice and with which - for the high moral virtues indicated terein, I deal with high respect. The teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (especially about Jesus) - in addition, helped me to a more profound and deeper understanding.

In 1981, representing Heinrich-Bauer-Verlag, Hamburg, I was sent to Poona, India, in order to make researches on the Shree Rajneesh Ashram there. Skeptical and full of prejeduces, did I arrive - due to having read a few articles, published earlier about the matter. My intention- I admit - therefore was: to warn my readers about the on-goings in Poona.

It took me exactly two days, to let go of these prejeduces. The lectures of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and the readings of his books as well the meditations practiced in the Ashram - gave me a deeper insight not only about myself, but also about how to deal more lovingly with other peaople. As a result, I became a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and as such continued to work in my profession successfully. I am grateful to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh for having shown me that to be tolerate towards others, to be more relaxed into my work ( as beeing an opportunity to be creative) and to be open to life as a God given gift - has made me more and more conscious that loving rather than hurting or being hurt is my birthgiven right to be discovered and - thanks to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - to be experienced.

I consider him not only an internationally known celebrity, but also one of the greatest spirituel teachers, who should as long as he is still alive - made be able to go on with his significant work.
