This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To whom it may concern

I am Peter Isler, 31, Swiss national, married, father of two children. Today I am co-owner of a law-firm with 8 employees, member of the board of various compagnies, president of the regional tenant’s association. In 69/70, as exchange student of AFS-International at the James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, Md., I graduated as the best of my class. Already during my law studies in Zurich and Geneva I published in law-reviews. After two years of post graduate studies in the Netherlands I promoted as doctor of law. Specialized in the field of working relations and corporate law I published the following two books: "Mitbestimmung und Unternehmungsrecht" 1980, and "Problemkreis Mitbestimmung” (will appear in the next months). Since March 78 I'm desciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. More than 6 months I spent with him in Poona, India. His teachings affected my life and work deeply. He taught me to carry my responsability joyfully and playfully. Without him my success wouldn't have been possible.

His message of freedom and love showed me what true religion is. In other words: Bhagwan helped me to hear what Christ really said. His deep understanding of what life is all about gives me not only the strengh to carry on and master occuring difficulties, but also to take of for a new horizon.

I never quite understood why this outstanding religious teacher is not welcomed whith open arms in the US that is famous worldwide for its political and religious freedom. His experiment with the commune in Oregon is a trendsetter in the striving of resolving the problems facing the world today and tomorrow. It is also highly recognized as such in the Swiss medias. I sincerely hope that the US administration will enable Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to continue his work and bring it to a good end.
