This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Gyandharma. It is "Exhibit A-386" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I graduated in 1975 from the University of Chieti in Medicine and Surgery. I then worked at the Chieti City Hospital SS Annunziata, training in anesthesia and re-animation. Three years at the University of Genoa completed my specialty studies in Dental Prosthesis and Oral Surgery.

In 1979, after three years at Duchessa Galliera Hospital, Genoa, I opened a private office for Dental Prosthesis and Oral Surgery in Chiavari. I have also won the Tennis World Championship for Doctors three times (1976 in Lakeway, Tx; 1980 in Tokyo, Japan; and 1981 at Garmish, Sweden).

I came in contact with Bhagwan in 1980 through some of his books and was immediately struck by his clarity and the beauty with which he was answering all my questions. I almost couldn't believe that here was a person who knew the deepest secrets of my heart.

I read all the books by Him which were available in Italian and then in 1981 I went to Poona, where I met Him.

Then I started visiting the ”Villabella” center where there were about 100 sannyasins and since then I can say that my life has changed radically. Participating in the work of a center with other sannyasins made me aware that the teachings of buch a master were unique. No other psychologist, psychoanalyst or doctor had ever changed in such a radical way my way of relating to others, had ever created such a trust in myself and in my work. None of them had given me a glimpse of the workings of the human psyche in such an impressive way as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

In August, 1982, I was at Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, and seeing what his disciples had accomplished, I realized that the presence of such a spiritual leader is tremendously significant in today's world.

I can attest that Bhagwan is a well-known and respected authority throughout Europe and his teachings and the very presence of a man of such vast knowledge and intelligence can only be described as the greatest gift even given to Humanity.

Sincerely,
