This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Prem Abhinav (Patrice Gauthier). It is "Exhibit A-702" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Montreal, July 20, 1983

To whom it may concern,

I am an architect, B. Arch. McGill 1967. I have been in private practice from 1969 to 1974 with 4 associates in a firm known as Ateliers Associes Architecture Planification. As such, I was in charge of design and production in one of the offices. Our work had to do mostly with schools and public buildings but we also did appartments, office buildings, private residences, industrial buildings, etc.

Since 1974, I have been with the Bureau de Transport Metropolitain, working on the planning of the Montreal Subway's extensions. As project architect, I have assumed numerous coordination jobs, designed and supervised construction of the Plamondon station. At the moment, I am working at the design of the Vincent d’Indy station and assuming coordination for the architecture of the Montreal-Rigaud suburban train stations.

I came a cross Bagwan Shree Rajneesh in March 1982 and became a sanyasin last December. His teaching have fulfilled a great gap in my search for satisfactory spiritual growth and personal evolution. The therapies that I have attended under the guidance of his disciples according to his teachings have brought me a happier life. But, above all, his presence through every aspect of my daily occupations have completely transformed my life. Through him, I can say I am a better architect, more present, more efficient, more human, in the work I produce and in the relationship with the people I work with.

I visited Rajneeshpuram last December and again at the beginning of this month. It is an outstanding acheivement, done in a very short period of time with relatively little financial means. The buildings that have been erected have been conceived in a very competent and efficient way and their construction carried out with a lot of creativity.

It is only through Bagwan’s inspiration that so much could have been acheived in so little time.
