This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Premprabhu (Kaj Mulvad Jørgensen). It is "Exhibit A-315" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To the Immigration Authorities of the State Oregon, USA.

July 22, 1983

Gentlemen,

It's with great anxiety I hear, that my spiritual leader, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, perhaps will be prohibited permanent stay in Oregon, USA. As an editor and body-therapist I would like to state to you the enormous inspiration I have found and still find through the teaching of Bhagwan, who now has been my master for 7 years.

In my work as a body-therapist at a Danish government institution for deaf-blind people (Ungdomshjem for Dov-Blinde, Aalborg, Denmark) I greatly benefit from the teaching of Bhagwan. During massage sessions with the deaf-blind I get direct guidance how to treat the patient. This is fundamental for my work. These sessions have proved to be very helpful for the mental, fysical as well as the emotional growth of my deaf-blind patients. Both the leader and the staff of the institution are overwhelmed by the surprising positive results, which are not understandable to them in comparison with generally known techniques.

As an editor I am surprised that United States with its deep grounded tradition for religious freedom, and as such an example for the rest of the world, now seems to go against these high principles. As the whole world knows, USA has always during its history given refuge to spiritual leaders and there disciples.

I deeply hope that the authorities of Oregon will consider these valuable traditions, when they take their final stand in this case, which is so vital for Bhagwans more than 300.000 disciples.

Yours sincerely,

Swami Premprabhu
