This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Premraj (Wolfgang Hanssen). It is "Exhibit A-370" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

July 21st 1983

To whom it may concern

I am a student of theoretical physics and electronic engineering. Studying physics I came to feel that none, or very few, of the teaching Professors had a real understanding of the cosmos, and the fundamental laws of physics were just scratching at the surface of a tremendous, huge, unknown organic unity, that was not sufficiently understandable by the approach of the physicist. The quest for knowing more about this became so strong, that I interrupted my studies and went to India to learn from Indian mystics, attending various religious schools (Aurobindo, Shivananda).

I got a glimpse that more is possible.

After two years of search I happened to hear my first lecture tape of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. Tor the first time in my life I felt that there is someone who knows exactly the things I was looking for.

Now I’m his disciple for almost four years, and through his teachings and meditations my vision of the cosmos and myself as a part of it has tremendously been enriched. Now I feel science and engineering are tools in my hand to give expression to my inner feeling of oneness with the whole. Due to that feeling, I was able to continue my studies far better than ever before.
