This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Vadano (Peter Frans Rep). It is "Exhibit A-1015" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

issue: The stay of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in Oregon, U.S.A.
writer: Swami Vadano (Peter Frans Rep)
birth: 22-3-1944, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
profession: teacher, artist painter, poet

To whom it may concern,

ALthough in truth I wished my master lived in the Netherlands to rise the level of my awareness and that of the people of my country in"a cheaper way" he is doing now in your far away and expensive America, I want to write this letter to you in favour of my masters’ stay in the U.S.A. .

As an artist I’m writing from a mind that’s extremely vulnerable for an atmosphere of freedom and love; better to say that I feel that the right as well as the chance for humanity to go on living on this beautiful planet, this earth, depends on its capacity to create a society that is based on these two human needs.

To create such a society, first we have to devellop free and loving people.

And that’s exactly what I know that my master, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, is trying to do.

Although I’m not competent to assure you that he will succeed, I expierence him as the best man available in my life right now.

He is not teaching a theory, but transferring his being. Although the heart of his work is of inner transformation, it also needs to be expressed in th outer world as well, because reality is both.

If America with its specific history can’t give this beautiful man a chance to help humanity transform into a non-suicidal, loving and intelligent specimen of God, it is cutting her own roots of existence.

I hope that America will recognize in Bhagwan’s sannyassins the old song of the heart which drove so many people from Europe to that country of hope, love and freedom.

Please welcome my master in your country with the respects a man of love deserves.

With love,
