This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Veet Samayo. It is "Exhibit A-347" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To Whom It May Concern

Dear Sirs,

To introduce myself; I have been a graphic designer, Art Director and Graphic Art teacher for twenty-three years. I was Managing Director of a London Advertising Agency, National Publicity Co. Ltd., Director of a London Design Group, C.C.S. Ltd., a Member of the Institute of Practitioners of Advertising, a Member of the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers.

My wife and I, and our six children, all visited India together to meet Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. We were incredibly impressed by his wit and humour, his overwhelming love for all peoples, his natural grace and generosity. Our whole family stayed in India for two years until Bhagwan went into silence and came to the west for medical reasons.

Since that time, and our subsequent return home, we are all truly involved in enjoying a family religious way of life, guided by the vision of this living enlightened Master.

I have been, since then, the director of a creative arts company, Sun Design & Printing. This business includes copywriting, design, artwork, lay-out, photography and a print shop. The work that is now being produced by our company, a communual business run by Rajneeshees, is incredibly beautiful and has thus attracted the clientele of big business throughout Europe. We are producing company logos, magazines, large-scale advertising work and are now moving on to publishing books, for which we do all the design and layout. The first priority in our work is to produce high quality print products that are aesthetically beautiful and highly creative. The inspiration for our work is Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, whose presence and way of living, both through his words and now his silence, has guided us all to expand into new potentials and dimensions not only in our own lives but also in our arts and creativities.

We have been enjoying our annual visits to Rajneeshpuram to sit in meditation and silence with our Master, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh at the World Annual Celebrations. We have shared with thousands of sannyasins around the world a great intensity and devotion in our worship during these times. What we have gained from these visits to Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, in the last two years, by being in the presence of Bhagwan, and experiencing the tremendous creativity that is happening in all facets of the community there, has been of great significance to our daily lives as Rajneeshees. It is a constant source of inspiration to my work also.

It feels very significant that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is now living in the United States of America and I am sure that his exceptional understanding of life, arts and sciences will benefit the creative elements of your country.

We all hope that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh will be allowed to continue his stay at Rajneeshpuram and that we can continue to enjoy our visits there for these annual festivals.

Yours sincerely
