This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. For Bhagwan Rajneesh To whom it may concern: At a speed of 66,000 miles per hour, all of humanity is hurling through the Universe on the "Spaceship Earth." We are all coming together and we require the integrity of each of us to make our eternally regenerative Universe work. A very large number of Earthians, possibly the majority, sense the increasing imminence of total extinction of humanity by the more than 50,000 poised-for-rocket-delivery atomic bombs. Approximately nobody of the 4 1/2 billion humans on our planet knows what to do about it including the world’s most powerful political leaders. Humans did not invent atoms. Humans discovered atoms together with some of the mathematically incisive laws governing their behaviors. In 1928 humans discovered the existence of a galaxy other than our own. Since then we have discovered 2 billion more galaxies, each averaging over 100 billion stars. Each star is a chain-reacting atomic energy plant. Since all the cosmic-scale invention and designing is accomplishable only be intellect and it is not by the intellect of humans, it is obviously that of the eternal intellectual integrity we call God. In addition to brains, God gave humans mind. Human mind alone has been given access to some of the eternal laws governing physical and metaphysical Universe, such as the laws of mathematics, chemistry, and the laws governing gravitational or magnetic interattractiveness which varies inversely in respect to the second power of the distances intervening. Halve the distance and double the interattractiveness as is manifested by the terminal acceleration of Earthward traveling ("falling") bodies or by the final "snap” together of interapproaching magnets. Within the last century humanity has grown from 95 percent illiterate to a 65 percent literate condition. Preponderantly illiterate humanity needed literate leaders. Now, preponderantly literate humanity is capable of self-determination in major degree. The present evolutionary crisis of humans on planet Earth is that of a final examiniation for continuance in Universe. It is not an examination of political, economic, or religious systems but of the integrity of all individual evolution’s ever more unprecendented events. I have been contacted by an associate of Bhagwan Rajneesh that a letter might influence U.S. officials to consider granting this man of exceptional ability as a religious leader to continue residency in the United States. My knowledge of Bhagwan is through our inquiry as Architects for physical facilities, and in that capacity I found truthfullness, directness and integrity. His techniques surely significantly affect the fields of art, religion and science in contemporary America. Although I am not a religious follower of his, nevertheless I acknowledge his international support and wholeheartedly support his efforts. The United States and Russia with a known inventory of 50,000 nuclear warheads, if we should drop one, once a day, (like the vitamins) including leap year, we would be dropping bombs and creating holocaust for the next 5 years, 8 months and 11 days. It would be the destruction of humanity. It is any wonder, we need peace-loving and spiritual leaders like Bhagwan Rajneesh around. Respectfully submitted, |
