This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. Vincenzo Ruggiero, medico psichiatra del Servizio Psichiatrico della U.S.S.L. 67 - Regione Lombardia, sito presso il Presidio Ospedaliero di Garbagnate Milanese, impegnato in quanto tale in un lavoro di prevenzione e cura dei disturbi psichici di diversa natura ed entità, dichiara che, nell’ambito di una ricerca, non solo teorica, ma anche applicata relativa al rapporto tra "psicoterapie occidentali" e cosiddette "vie di liberazione orientali" è venuto a conoscenza degli insegnamenti e degli scritti di Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. Tali insegnamenti si collocano per profondità di analisi e spessore di contenuti nell'ambito dei più validi ed originali contributi all'elaborazione teorica e clinica delle scienze psicologiche, come, anche personalmente, ho avuto modo di verificare nelle mia attività professionale pubblica e privata. In fede [signed] translation July 20, 1983 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I, the undersigned Vincenzo Ruggiero, M.D., and psychiatrist of the Psychiatrist Service of the U.S.S.L. of the "Regione Lombarda", located at the "Presidio Ospedaliero" of Garbagnate Milanese, work in the prevention and cure of the psychiatric disorders of different nature and gravity, I declare to have come to know the teachings and writings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in occasion of a research, both practical and theoretical, relating to the relations between the "Western psychotherapies" and the so-called "Eastern ways of liberation". For their depth of analysis and substance, these teachings are amongst the most valid and original contribution given to the theoretical and clinical elaboration of the psychological sciences.
