This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Warren J Stagg. It is "Exhibit A-86" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To Whom It May Concern:

Throughout my life I've been a student of knowledge, seeking wisdom and truth. My efforts have made me a Doctor of Natural Science, as well as a Doctor of Divinity. The Eastern Mystic, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, now residing in the state of Oregon, has, to me, the foremost mind on this planet. He has written over 350 books of which I've personally read over 50. I can't speak highly enough of his abilities and clearness of insight, this man is obviously a genius and most likely the New Age Buddha.

We, as a country and as members of this society should be honored to have a person of this consciousness among us.

All great thinkers and personages throughout history have been opposed by those who don’t yet understand the clarity of their visions, only to find out in retrospect that the messages these great men were offering were the guidelines for future society.

For us, as a nation, to overlook this opportunity to welcome this magnificent mind and not grant him a permanent visa be an error we would regret forever.

Far too few great minds are developed on this planet for us to ignore and/or misunderstand one in our midst.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Dr. Warren J. Stagg,
N.D. D.D. Ph.D.
