This series is a collection of Osho's discourses on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, given over the course of several years. Patanjali's sutras, a classic of Indian spiritual lore for millennia, are now masterfully illuminated in a contemporary way.
In his previous long-running series of talks in English, The Book of the Secrets / Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, ended just a month before the Yoga series started, Osho had expounded on the value of "let-go", non-control and spontaneity, over what he characterized as yoga's focus on effort. Here, celebrating the strengths of Patanjali's approach, it is not effort but science.
He says that "all the techniques of Yoga have really one focus: how to use the mind. Rightly used it becomes no-mind and you are absolutely silent; wrongly, it becomes so divided you go insane. Through the sutras of Patanjali, Osho leads the reader step by step toward an understanding of the mind - that it is not something different from the body, and how to use it as an instrument".
Yoga was first published as a series of ten volumes of ten chapters each, then republished under other names.
