Osho Mevlana is a new Sannyasin experiment in living inspired by the vision of Osho. Four years ago Swami Amitabh, Ma Latifa and Swami Niten bought a four hundred acre parcel of land in Byron Bay Australia with the view to create an Osho field here. | |||
The last year and a half have been intense to say the least! Amitabh was killed in an airoplane accident, in which also Niten was seriously injured. Osho Mevlana has a life of it's own as it did not fade out despite the events of the last year, if anything it is more vibrant then ever. | |||
Mevlana is now a budding Sannyasin community with at present six residents. We have planning consent to construct 19 residential dwellings which would house approx. 60 to 80 residents; we also have permits for a rural holiday center which would accomodate upto 80 guest; meditation hall; group rooms; a restaurant and a licenced bar are all approved and will be built in the very near future! | |||
Osho Mevlana is owned by a group of Sannyasins in the form of a company. At present the company has 12 shareholders, and there is room for many more! Being a shareholder in the company gives you the right to build a dwelling house in the community. | |||
We have just started to build the "Main House" for Mevlana which will house the meditation hall (140 sqm), a restaurant to feed 400 people, a licenced bar, three session rooms and an Osho information center and store. | |||
The building will be complete for it's inauguration on Osho's birthday 1997. | |||

Osho Mevlana is a new Sannyasin experiment in living inspired by the vision of Osho. The last year and a half have been intense to say the least! Amitabh was killed in an airoplane accident, in which also Niten was seriously injured. Osho Mevlana has a life of it's own as it did not fade out despite the events of the last year, if anything it is more vibrant then ever.
