Lala Sundarlal was the younger son of Lala Motilal Jain, the founder of the major Indological publisher, Motilal Banarsidass. He inherited the running of MLBD at a very young age when his older brother died, and ran it for almost sixty years. In the 60s, he became closely connected with Osho, receiving many letters from him, organizing events for him in Delhi and publishing many of his books.
