The Book of the Secrets, Vol 2
- An in-depth and practical explanation of the 112 meditation techniques of Shiva, on which the science of Tantra is based. Conveniently arranged according to different senses and chakras, there are step-by-step meditation techniques for every man, woman and child. Techniques include: watching the gap between two breaths; watching one's moods; being aware of oneself as the one who senses; focusing attention on the third eye; making love without a partner. Meditation techniques for every possible facet of day-to-day life and an invaluable companion for every meditator.
- Editor's Note (in the 1975 hardcover and the 1979 paperback editions, and also in Vol 3 (1976) and (1980)):
- A newcomer to the literature of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh would be surprised to know, when reading this volume on "Vigyana Bhairava Tantra", that Bhagwan never prepares for any of his lectures. A sutra is merely read by him or a question is put to him, and with superb spontaneity his Divine wisdom flows forth in response.
- All the books of Bhagwan's that are being published are the transcribed, edited, verbatim transcriptions of these spontaneous lectures with hardly a word altered. The editor's function is merely to punctuate, paragraph and set in grammatical sentence structure that which has its source in the wisdom of the Divine - a divine task indeed for the one who is editing.
- Bhagwan never writes anything, except letters. The spoken word has always been his medium. Thus, the reader will find a great aliveness in these discourses, as they were originally presented through an alive medium.
- We are fortunate in this age to have the invention of the modern tape recorder. Imagine if the tape recorder had existed at the time of Buddha, Christ, or Mahavir and we had been able to preserve their actual words, voice intonations and language dialects for posterity! What a blessing it would have been to have their original words rather than the partialized interpretations handed down by their disciples!
- But with Bhagwan future posterity will know what a rare living Enlightened Master once walked the earth. It will know the wisdom he has spoken, the sadhanas (spiritual practices) he has taught and even the soothing quality of his voice, since tapes as well as books will be preserved.
- So, we are not only indebted to modern inventions as well as to ancient teachings like those in "Vigyana Bhairava Tantra" (here with presented in this volume), but especially to Bhagwan for showering his grace upon us by taking so much trouble to awaken and teach such a distressed, tense overanxious cicvilization as ours is.
