This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 28 Jan 1963 in the morning.
This letter has been published in Krantibeej (क्रांतिबीज) as letter 100 (edited and trimmed text) and later in Bhavna Ke Bhojpatron Par Osho (भावना के भोजपत्रों पर ओशो) on p 195-196 (2002 Diamond edition: last sentence of letter before PS is missing in the book.
रजनीश ११५, नेपियर टाउन प्रभात: मां, सुबह ही सुबह एक युवक आ गये हैं। उदास दीखते हैं और लगता है कि जैसे भीतर ही भीतर किसी एकाकीपन ने घेर लिया है। कुछ जैसे खोगया है और आंखे उसे खोजती मालूम होती हैं। मेरे पास वे कोई बर्ष भर से आरहे हैं और ऐसे भी एक दिन आयेंगे यह भी मैं भलीभांति जानता था। इसके पूर्व उनमें काल्पनिक आनंद था वह धीरे धीरे विलीन होगया है। कुछ देर सन्नाटा सरकता रहा है। उनने आंखें बंद कर ली हैं और कुछ सोचते से मालुम होते हैं। फिर, प्रगटतः बोले हैं : ‘मैं अपनी आस्था खो दिया हूँ। मैं एक स्वप्न में था वह जैसे खंडित हो गया है। ईश्वर साथ मालुम होता था अब अकेला रह गया हूँ और अब बहुत घबडाहट होती है। इतना असहाय तो मैं कभी भी नहीं था। पीछे वापिस लौटना चाहता हूँ पर वह भी अब संभव नहीं दीखता है। वह सेतु खंडहर हो गया है। यह आपने क्या कर दिया है? मेरी आस्था – मेरा सहारा क्यों छीन लिया है?” मैं कहता हूँ : ‘जो नहीं था केवल वही छीना जासकता है। जो है उसका छीनना संभव नहीं है। स्वप्न और कल्पना के साथी से एकाकीपन मिटता नहीं है केवल मूर्च्छा में दब जाता है। ईश्वर की कल्पना और मानसिक प्रक्षेप से मिला आनंद वास्तविक नहीं है। वह सहारा नहीं, भ्रांति है और भ्रान्तिओं से जितनी जल्दी छुटकारा हो उतना ही अच्छा है। ईश्वर को वस्तुतः पाने के लिए समस्त मानसिक धारणाओं को त्यागना पड़ता है। और उन धारणाओं में ईश्वर की धारणा भी अपवाद नहीं है। वह भी छोडनी पड़ती है। यही त्याग है और यही तप है क्योंकि सपनों को छोड़ने से अधिक कष्ट और किसी बात में नहीं है। ‘कल्पना, स्वप्न और धारणाओं के विसर्जन पर जो है वह अभिव्यक्त होता है। निद्रा टूटती है और जागरण आता है। फिर जो पाना है वही पाना है क्योंकि उसे कोई छीन नहीं सकता है। वह किसी और अनुभूति से खंडित नहीं होती है क्योंकि वह पर-अनुभूति नहीं है; स्वानुभूति है। वह किसी दृश्य का दर्शन नहीं, स्वयं शुद्ध दृष्टा का बोध है। वह ईश्वर का विचार नहीं, स्वयं ईश्वर में होना है।” उस युवक के चेहरे को देखता हूँ जैसे एक स्याह पर्दा पड़ा था जो उठ गया है। एक शक्ति आंखों में आगई है और एक संकल्प जाग्रत हुआ मलूम होता है। वह ईश्वर को पासकेगा ऐसा प्रतीत होता है क्योंकि ईश्वर को छोडने को राजी होगया है! रजनीश के प्रणाम
