Letter written to Sw Krishna Saraswati on 22 May 1971. It has been published in The Silent Music as letter #21 and later in A Cup of Tea, letter #234.

dear krishna saraswati,

Love. Logic is not all.

Neither is consistency.

Because, even madness has its own methods, rationalizations and inner consistencies.

A madman was throwing landfills of crumbs around his house.

"What are you doing ?" someone asked him.

"Keeping the elephants away."

"But there are no elephants in these parts?" said the enquirer.

"That is right. My method is effective, isn't it?" declared the madman.
