Letter written on 26 Aug 1962

This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 26th August 1962. The letterhead has a simple "रजनीश" (Rajneesh) in the top left area, in a heavy but florid font, and "115, Napier Town, Jabalpur (M.P.) in the top right, in a lighter but still somewhat florid font.

Osho's salutation in this letter is a fairly typical "प्रिय मां", Priya Maan, Dear Mom. There are a couple of the hand-written marks that have been observed in other letters: a black tick mark in the top right corner and a mirror-image number in the bottom right corner. As with some other recent letters, there are actually two numbers there, one crossed out (126) and replaced by a pink number, 128. The tick mark is hard to see, being under the part of the letter which is folded over, but it is there.

In PS Osho writes: "Must have received letters in which I have given information of my reaching at 10 o'clock night at Bombay on 31? I am reaching at Bombay by aero plane straight from Calcutta - have to stay at Bombay on 1-2 and 3 September. One lecture is in Matunga - two in lecture series of 'Bharat Jain Mahamandal'. There is an invitation from Poona but have not decided about that yet - will take decision only after reaching Bombay. Rest, OK. Humble pranam to all. I suppose Parakh Ji is also coming to Bombay!"

रजनीश ११५, नेपियर टाउन जबलपुर (म.प्र.) प्रिय मां, एक मिट्टी का दिया जल रहा था, वह भी बुझ गया है। अंधेरे के सागर में डूब गया हूँ। बिजली सांझ से नहीं है और दूर दूर तक अंधेरे की मखमली चादर ने सब ढक लिया है। किंतु, इस अंधेरे में भी भीतर प्रकाश है। आंख के बाहर अंधेरा है पर आंख बंद करते ही प्रकाश ही प्रकाश है। एक छोटा सा पलकों का परदा, पर फासला कितना है? कितनी सी दूरी पर कितनी दूरी है? आंख के बाहर काल और दिक्‌ का जगत्‌ है : भीतर दिक्‌ और काल के बाहर होजाते हैं। और जब दिक्‌ और काल के बाहर होते हैं, तभी होते हैं। इन क्षणों में क्षण नहीं है और मैं हूँ। २६.८.६२ रजनीश के प्रणाम पुनश्च: मेरे पत्र तो मिल गये होंगे जिनमें मैं बम्बई ३१ की रात्रि १० बजे बम्बई पहुँच रहा हूँ इसकी सूचना दिया हूँ? पर आपका कोई पत्र नहीं है। पत्र दें : आप कब पहुँच रही हैं। मैं कलकत्ता से वायुयान से सीधा बम्बई पहुँच रहा हूँ। १-२ और ३ सितम्बर बम्बई रूकना है। १ भाषण माटुंगा में है : दो भारत जैन महामंडल की व्याख्यान माला में। पूना का भी निमंत्रण है पर अभी वहां का कोई निश्चय नहीं किया है। बम्बई पहुँच कर ही निर्णय लूँगा। शेष शुभ। सबको विनम्र प्रणाम। मैं सोचता हूँ कि पारख जी भी बम्बई चल रहे हैं!
