This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Deva Ruth (Ruth Wohlschlegel). It is "Exhibit A-690" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

I studied acting in the Musikakademie of the University in Hamburg (1973 - 1976), received my diploma, and later on I studied with Lee Strasberg in Los Angeles (1978 - 1980). And for three years now I run a Theatre-Studio in Berlin. I have worked in more than a dozen movies with famous German film directors like Alexander Kluge, Reinhard Hauff, Monika Schmidt, did several TV series, like "Jerusalem, Jerusalem", "die Laurents", and work since more than 10 years on stage theatre, such as Schausprelhaus Hamburg, Residenttheatre Munich, Koln, Bochum and so on.

During my work I came across Bhagwan's meditation, read his brilliant religious books, listening to his lectures, and fell more and more in love with his religious teaching.

Finally I went to Poona in 1981 and took sannyas. He talked many times about theatre work and teached the most beautiful meaning of being an actor, being playful and creative.

Theatre was even used as a technique for his disciples' growth - a Shakespearean group, all sannyasins, toured India widely.

Through, his exceptional abilities in arts my whole work as actress, my creativity, went into more beauty, more freedom and more authenticity. And through his religious teaching, which is internationally recognized, I'm also able to help people in my studio to find their own creativity and inner beauty.

In the moment I'm visiting Rajneeshpuram, and it is amazing what has happened here, how everybody grows, how this city grows through his inspiration, through his silent communion with all of us, through his love.

Love.
