This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Puja Apurvo. It is "Exhibit A-691" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

P.O. Box 10
Rajneeshpuram, OR 97741
July 22 1983

To whom this may concern:

I am a musician, trained as a pianist at New England Conservatory, Boston, Massachusetts, with a B.A. in English and Music from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. I have been composing music for dance companies in New York City since 1979. Since discovering Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in 1981 my music has become clearer and more delightful to hear. It is difficult to explain the alterations in one's work with words. Suffice it to say that audiences are remarking on the alterations. The quality has shifted from seriousness to humor, from heaviness to delight. Audiences leave my performances happier and more fulfilled.

Bhagwan has affected my music more than anybody else. It has been my pleasure to be associated with Bhagwan, and to feel the depth of his contribution to my work. This is a Teacher whose abilities place Him very high in the field of arts.

The changes in my music began when I met His sannyasins. Love and joy began to flow through my life and through my art. Later I was affected more by His presence: eyes, face, hands always delighting in humor, no matter how important a situation might seem; books that laughed in the face of all seriousness. My music could not "worry" any more. Rather, the sounds began to include enjoyment and praise for all that God offers.

His abilities as a religious leader are incontestable. Only a great religious leader could give love, joy, happiness and celebration to so many people ... thousands, worldwide, discovering that Heaven has descended on earth, creating together a life dedicated to God and His goodwill on earth. It is a blessing to be living with such a wise, loving, intelligent Master. His silence goes deeper than words. His presence communicates where language cannot speak.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Ma Puja Apurvo
