This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Santosh Sneh (Marlies Traulsen). It is "Exhibit A-1146" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

I am qualified as a teacher of English language and of general education. After I finished my studies at University I have been a practising teacher for 10 years, working intensely together with parents and colleagues.

I was searching for alternatives and ways to bring more of freedom and flexibility into a school-life which was nto always adequate to modern insights in sociology ,psychology and pedagogics. One insight of my teaching period: The child’s capacity to learn and grow is basically dependant on love-yet modern society cannot supply enough love because its main interest is rather in efficiency.

When I met Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh I became fascinated because he had a complete new way of facing life. His approach is that of love and meditation: understanding and meeting life from the inside not from outward as I had tried. In the four years since I became Bhagwan’s disciple I experienced a transformatior myself. For the last 3 1/2 years I worked intensely in the field of art and was having exhibitions and painting courses all over the world.

For me Bhagwan has opened a completely new dimension of teaching and art.

He is offering a healing to humanity which starts from the very roots of each human being.
