This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society.  SIDNEY A. COPILOW To whom it may concern: I am an attorney licenced to practice law in the States of Illinois, California and the Federal Courts and have been so for 20 years. I have served on various committees; judicial and community organizations. I have followed the teachings of Bhagwan Rajneesh from his books and tapes for over five years. I have investigated Rajneesh purem, the newest American city in Oregon and my conclusion is that he is a most exceptional human being. His work is inspiring and his city is a role model for future endeavors. His works concerning the sciences and the arts are exceptional. We must be privileged and grateful to have such a person in our country and to lose him by way of deportation would be a very sad event for our nation and would set a precedent that a free country cannot afford.
