This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Vedam (Anthony Roché). It is "Exhibit A-1138" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom it may concern:

I am an American citizen presently living in Switzerland. My wife is a Swiss citizen. Presently I am teaching Flute at various Bezirksschulen (Junior High Schools) here in Switzerland. I have a Masters Degree from the National Conservatory of Music in Freiburg, in Germany. I have also been a Rajneeshee for the past three years.

I first heard about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through friends in Germany. Later, I read several books written by Bhagwan himself and was very much interested in his work and message.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is in my opinion our only hope. If we are to change the world into a better place to live in, we all have to become rooted in love, in meditation, in awareness. These are just some of the few qualities that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is.

Let us not ignore this great man and his message to us. To do so would be a grave mistake on our part. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is and will prove to be a temendous asset for America.

Please allow Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to remain in America and continue the fine work which he is doing. Thank You for your consideration to this matter.

Very Truly Yours,
[signed]
Anthony Roche (Swami Vedam)
