This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 17th October 1961. The letterhead has a simple "रजनीश" (Rajneesh) in the top left area, in a heavy but florid font, and "115, Napier Town, Jabalpur (M.P.) in the top right, in a lighter but still somewhat florid font.

रजनीश १७ अक्तूबर ‘६१ मां, वासना है तब तक संसार में प्रत्येक व्यक्ति भिखारी है। परतंत्रता, दारिद्रय और दुख आंतरिक हैं। वासना का फैलाव-विस्तार ही दुख है। ‘मैं’ जबतक कुछ होना चाहता है तब तक दुख बना रहता है। होने की वासना ही बंधन-मूल है। यह दीख जाये तो सरलता आजाती है। स्वामीत्व आजाता है : स्वतंत्रता आजाती है। इस सत्य को जानना सम्यक्त्व है। सम्यक् ज्ञान मुक्ति है। यह जानना कठिन नहीं है। शांत हो कर अपने को देखें – अपनी क्रियाओं को और विचारों को – तो इस शांति में ही भिखारी विसर्जित होजाता है और प्रभु के दर्शन उपलब्ध होते हैं। यह संसार ही विद्यालय प्रतीत होने लगता है। इससे ही अपने तक पहूँचना होता है। यह उलझाता है; यही मुक्त भी कर देता है। कल संध्या आपका पत्र मिल गया था। जो लिखा वह सब विचार-जन्य है। विचारातीत जो है जबतक उसे न पाया जावे तबतक शांति और आनंद उपलब्ध नहीं होते हैं। जीवन भर आत्म प्रवंचना चलती है : नये नये धोखे मन आविष्कृत कर लेता है। उन धोखों पर अच्छे अच्छे शब्द वह जड़ देता है पर इस मिथ्या खेल में कुछ सार्थकता नहीं है। विचार और मन के पार जो बैठा है : उसे पाना है। उसे पाना ही है। उसे पाये बिना गति नहीं है। मैं आ रहा हूँ : इस संबंध में विस्तार से विचार हो सकता है। रजनीश के प्रणाम |
