This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 18th November 1961. The letterhead has a simple "रजनीश" (Rajneesh) in the top left area, in a heavy but florid font, and "115, Napier Town, Jabalpur (M.P.)" in the top right, in a lighter but still somewhat florid font.

रजनीश १८ नव. १९६१ प्रिय मां, एक बांस की पोंगरी कितना अमृत बरसा सकती है? जीवन भी बांसुरी की भांति है। अपने में खाली और शून्य; पर साथ ही संगीत की अपरिसीम सामर्थ्य भी उसमें है। सब कुछ बजाने वाले पर निर्भर है। जीवन वैसा ही होजाता है जैसा व्यक्ति उसे बनाता है। वह अपना ही निर्माण है। वह तो एक अवसर मात्र है – कैसा गीत कोई गाना चाहता है यह पूरी तरह उसके हाथों में है। मनुष्य की महिमा यही है कि वह स्वर्ग और नर्क दोनों के गीत गाने को स्वतंत्र है। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति दिव्य स्वर अपनी बांसुरी से उठा सकता है : बस थोड़ी सी अंगुलियां भर साधने की बात है। थोड़ी सी साधना और विराट उपलब्धि है। न कुछ करने से ही अनंत आनंद का साम्राज्य मिल जाता है। मैं चाहता हूँ कि एक एक हृदय में कहदूँ कि अपनी बांसुरी को उठा लो : समय भागा जारहा है : देखना कहीं गीत गाने का अवसर बीत न जाये। इसके पहले कि पर्दा गिरे तुम्हें अपना जीवन-गीत गालेना है। रजनीश के प्रणाम |
