Lala Sundarlal was the younger son of Lala Motilal Jain, the founder of the major Indological publisher, Motilal Banarsidass. He inherited the running of MLBD at a very young age when his older brother died, and ran it for almost sixty years. In the 60s, he became closely connected with Osho, receiving many letters from him, and published many of Osho's books.
