The wiki's growing collection of material relating to Sexual abuse in the sannyas world has attracted some feedback which we would like to share with our readers. AND we would like to invite all our readers to share their views on our coverage of this difficult subject and possibly help us to understand it better. This page is an index page for what is hoped to be a variety of -- not arguments but -- constructive experience- or insight-based comments and observations.

There is in fact no need to agree or disagree with anything, just share, and in so doing make us all richer. Your views may or may not get included directly in one of the other abuse pages, but all views will help to inform those of the editors and other readers. Please note that nothing will get published here or anywhere else in the wiki without the express permission of the author.

So far, stuff we can share has come only from Ma Prem Neeraj, a psychologist who worked in this field for many years in Vancouver. Her feedback touches on a variety of themes:

spontaneity and impulsivity are not synonymous
permissive parenting and neglectfulness are not synonymous
inability of a child to give informed-consent is the crux of the issue
blaming the victim as a societal attitude worsens the betrayal of trust that abuse is
what the master indicates and what we understand of this may not be the same
lack of empathy as a key cause of harm in sexual abuse
treating the offender with compassion
