Letter written on 15 Aug 1963

This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 15th August 1963. The letterhead is the one that appeared first in the previous letter. It has "Acharya Rajneesh" in a large, messy font to the left of and oriented 90º to the rest, which reads:

Osho's salutation in this letter is just plain "मां", Maan, Mom or Mother. Of the hand-written marks seen in other letters, a black tick mark is seen up top, and bottom right has a faint mirror-image number, 197. Just to make that part easy and clear, there is an image of the other side as well, since there is a PS there, and sure enough, a straight 197. Osho's experiments with coloured inks seen in some other recent letters resume with this one; it is mostly black, but has three red lines for emphasis.

The letter has been published in Jeevan-Darshan (जीवन दर्शन) (letters) as letter #10, Krantibeej (क्रांतिबीज) as letter 18 (edited and trimmed text) and later in Bhavna Ke Bhojpatron Par Osho (भावना के भोजपत्रों पर ओशो) on p 236 but inexplicably the PS has been omitted, the first such omission seen in this collection. Possibly it was not noticed.

The PS reads: "Received your letter. The car in regard to which I had a talk with you - it's seller's mind has changed - he doesn't want to sell it now. Some other car is to be looked for. It's good if Parakh Ji himself finds out from Bombay.

I am going to Indore on 17 August. On 18 and 19 I will speak there. Will go by plane to Bombay on 20th morning. There the program is on 20 - 21 - 22 and 23. Will start back on 23rd evening. Will speak on 1 September Bhopal, 5 September Jaipur and 8 September again at Indore. Probably I may speak at Jalgaon on 17 September. Rest OK. Love to Sharda."

आचार्य रजनीश ११५, नेपियर टाउन, जबलपुर (म. प्र:) मां, मैंने सुना है : “एक फकीर भीख मांगने निकला था। वह बूढ़ा हो गया था और आंख से उसे कम दीखता था। उसने एक मस्जिद के सामने आवाज लगाई थी। किसी ने उससे कहा : “आगे बढ़। यह ऐसे आदमी का मकान नहीं है जो तुझे कुछ देसके।” फकीर ने कहा : “आखिर इस मकान का मालिक कौन है जो किसी को कुछ नहीं देता?” वह आदमी बोला : “पागल! तुझे यह भी पता नहीं कि यह मस्जिद है। इस घर का मालिक स्वयं परम पिता परमात्मा है।” फकीर ने सिर उठाकर मस्जिद पर एक नजर डाली और उसका हृदय एक जलती हुई प्यास से भर गया। कोई उसके भीतर बोला : “अफसोस है इस दरवाजे से आगे बढ़ना। आखिरी दरवाजा आगया : इसके आगे और दरवाजा कहां है?” उसके भीतर एक संकल्प घना हो गया। अडिग चट्टान की भांति उसके हृदय ने कहा : “यहां से खाली हाथ नहीं लौटूँगा। जो यहां से खाली हाथ लौट गये उनके भरे हाथों का क्या मूल्य है!” वह उन्हीं सीढ़ियों के पास रुक गया। उसने अपने खाली हाथों को आकाश की तरफ फैला दिया। वह प्यासा था और प्यास ही प्रार्थना है। दिन आये और गये। माह आए और गये। ग्रीष्म बीती, बर्षा बीती, सर्दियां भी बीत चलीं। एक बर्ष पूरा हो रहाथा। उस बूढ़े के जीवन की मियाद भी पूरी होगई थी। पर अंतिम क्षणों में लोगों ने उसे नाचते देखा था। उसकी आंखें एक अलौकिक दीप्ति से भर गई थीं। उसके वृद्ध शरीर से प्रकाश झर रहा था। उसने मरने के पूर्व एक व्यक्ति से कहा था : “जो मांगता है उसे मिल जाता है। केवल अपने को समर्पित करने का साहस चाहिए।” ” अपने को समर्पित करने का साहस! अपने को मिटा देने का साहस! शून्य होने का साहस! जो मिटने को राजी है वह पूरा होजाता है। जो मरने को राजी है वह जीवन पाजाता है। १५ अगस्त १९६३ रजनीश के प्रणाम

पुनश्च: आपका पत्र मिला। जिस कार के संबंध में आपसे बात हुई थी उसके बेचने वाले का मन बदल गया है। वे अब नहीं बेचना चाहते हैं। कोई और गाड़ी ही देखनी होगी। पारखजी स्वयं बम्बई से देखें तो अच्छा है। xxx मैं १७ अगस्त को इंदौर जारहा हूँ। १८ और १९ वहां बोलूँगा। २० को सुबह प्लेन से बम्बई जाउँगा। २० – २१ – २२ और २३ वहां कार्यक्रम है। २३ की संध्या वापिस होउँगा। १ सितम्बर भोपाल, ५ सितम्बर जयपुर और ८ सितम्बर पून: इंदौर बोलूँगा। संभवत: १७ सितम्बर जलगांव बोलूँ। शेष शुभ। शारदा को स्नेह।
